It was so great to see everyone at the pumpkin patch on Thursday and Friday. The weather cooperated, the kids had fun, and the pumpkins were awesome. Thanks so much for coming!

Butterfly Class News
Week of October 20 - 24
Last Week
We started talking about farms, harvest, and pumpkins. We counted farms animals, made our own farms which are hanging in the hall outside the classroom, and read some fun farm books. It was a great way to get ready for our trip to the pumpkin patch.

This Week
We will continue the same theme this week, but with more focus on pumpkins. We will investigate what is inside a pumpkin, pound a pumpkin, pattern with pumpkins, and write a story about the pumpkin patch. We are going to be making pumpkin bread on Friday, and share our snack with our Busy Bee friends. Teacher Jaylene will also begin assessments in preparation for Parent/Teacher conferences.

Conferences
There will be a sign-up sheet out this week for conferences. They will be held on Thursday, November 6. Let me know if that day doesn't work for your schedule. We can find another time to meet, either before or after school one day.

Class Parties
We will be having a class party for Halloween on Thursday, October 30, and Friday, October 31. Your child is welcome to wear a costume, and we will be parading through the building, as well as across the street at Kindred. There will be a sign-up sheet out this week.

Don't Forget!
There is still a bit of missing paperwork. If you received a reminder in your child's cubby, make sure to print and fill out the papers and return them to class. Thank you!

Fundraisers
I wanted to let you know that the Scentsy fundraiser has been extended and is running through this Wednesday, October 22. 100% of the profits are being donated to Little Acorn. Thank you, Karli!

Portfolios
We only need a few more binders for our portfolios. If you haven't brought one in yet, this would be a great week to do so. Thanks!

Illness
Don't forget to call and let us know if your child is sick and won't be at school. You can call the office directly at 360-693-5614 and leave a message for Teacher Katie. You can also text Teacher Jaylene at 360-624-3673.

Word Wall--Letter Week
It's D for dog, door, and dress this week. Children may bring in something to share that starts with the letter D. We have a basket in the classroom to keep things safe until we share them at closing circle. Your child is welcome to bring something each day they attend class.

2014-2015
If you are considering adding any days to your child's enrollment, we still have spots available in the Butterfly Class. I'd be happy to talk to you about it, or you can stop by and see Katie in the office. Also, if you know anyone who is thinking of looking for a preschool this year, let them know it’s not too late to start. We love making new friends even after the first day of school!

Thank you for sharing your children with us -

This weeks songs in the Butterfly Class
Five Little Pumpkins
Five little pumpkins, sitting on a gate.
The first one says, "Oh, my, it's getting late."
The second one says, "There's a chill in the air."
The third one says, "But we don't care."
The fourth one says, "I'm ready for some fun."
The fifth one says, "Let's run and run and run!"
Oooooo went the wind and out went the lights.
And the five little pumpkins rolled our of sight.
