Last Week - Mittens, Winter/Summer Comparison, Ice Painting
We had fun last week learning about the differences between winter and summer - weather, clothing, what we do outside. The kids loved the ice painting we did, and had fun doing squish art mittens. They will be hanging in the hallway next week. Make sure to check them out when dropping off or picking up!
This Week
This week is going to be so much fun! We are going to be learning about hibernation - what animals sleep in the winter, where they sleep. Bears are also on the agenda. We will be doing some fun bear projects, including building a bear cave in our room where 2 friends can have turns playing quietly together. We will end our week with a Hibernation Celebration on both Thursday and Friday (Jan. 29 and 30). We will have a pajama party, watch a movie, and have a special snack. Your kiddos can wear their pjs and bring in a special teddy bear/stuffed animal to snuggle.

Word Wall - Letter N
This week we will be focusing on the letter N for nose, night, and neck. Please help your child find something that begins with the letter N if they would like to bring in something for sharing. Thanks!

NO SCHOOL MONDAY,
JANUARY 19, 2015,
IN HONOR OF MLK DAY.
ENJOY YOUR DAY OFF!
Last week, we continued singing, making, and counting snowmen. We also learned about temperature and why a snowman melts, which was a great transition to talking about winter weather. Our Spanish Circle was all about snow and snowmen, as well. The kids are really enjoying our time with Teacher Caroline on Fridays. We had a fire drill last week, and the kids did an amazing job listening and using their "quick and safe feet" to stay in line and get outside. One of the other things we worked on A LOT as a class was sharing and asking for a turn with a toy they really wanted to play with, and listening to each other. They are doing a good job working on being patient with each other. Come on in to class and see our snowman mobiles hanging over our circle table. We also have some awesome torn paper snowmen projects to look at. Thanks again for sharing your children with us!
We have a new classroom friend named Cocoa. Each student will have the opportunity to take Cocoa home for a few days and play with him.
Cocoa will be spending next week in the classroom, getting to know everyone. Then he will start his visits. We will be sending a journal along with him so you can add pictures and write about your time together.
Word Wall - Letter M
This week we will be focusing on the letter M for mouse, monkey, and moon. Please help your child find something that begins with the letter M if they would like to bring in something for sharing. Thanks!

Our first week back was great! I hope you all saw our melted snowmen in the hallway, and we made snowman mobiles that are hanging in the classroom. Come on in and see them this week! The kids had a lot of fun reading our new Mo Willems book, The Pigeon Needs a Bath. Thank you to everyone who bought books at the book fair in December. It was LAPSK most successful book fair ever. Lots of new books will be enjoyed. Thank you!
This Week
We will continue with a couple of snowman projects this week, and move on to talking about snow, ice, why they melt/temperature, painting with ice, and we will even have a snowball fight in the classroom. The kids are really enjoying learning about winter, even if there isn't any real snow outside to enjoy!
