Butterfly Class News
Week of September 29-October 3

Last Week
Wow! Your children are learning our daily routine so quickly, and our mornings have settled into a good rhythm of signing in, picking jobs, circle time, then on to table work. Go, Butterfly Kids! Chicka Chicka Boom Boom, will there be enough room? We got to watch Chicka Chicka Boom Boom last week - thank you, Teacher Caroline, for letting us borrow the DVD. We worked on letter recognition, read alphabet books, and made our own Chicka Chicka Boom Boom trees with our names.

This Week
We are moving on to Apples this week. We will be stamping with apples, making our own applesauce for snack time, talking about seasons and how the apple trees change, as well as continuing to work on using our words to express our needs and opinions with our friends and teachers. Also, watch for your child to bring home another My Big World booklet - All About Apples.

We all enjoyed having Pete the Cat visit last week! Here's what is coming up:
Butterfly Class News
Week of September 22-26

This Week
We said goodbye to Pete the Cat (check out your child's Pete hanging in the hallway), and we are moving on to Chicka Chicka Boom Boom this week. Letters and coconut trees, lots of alphabet books, counting, letter games, and painting are going to fill our week with lots of fun and creative projects. We might even get a chance to watch Chicka Chicka Boom Boom during circle time.

Carnival is Coming!
Carnival is right around the corner! Friday, October 3rd from 5-8pm, we will have our annual fall carnival. There will be a chili cook-off, lots of fun games including Minion Bowling and the popular Angry Birds game, as well as hot dogs, popcorn, and other yummies to eat. Mark your calendars now. You won't want to miss it!

Empty 2-Liter Bottles Needed
We need empty 2-liter bottles for carnival. If you can save some and bring them to us, it would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Portfolios and Family Pictures
If you haven't brought in a white,
2-inch binder, this week would be a great time! We are beginning to collect a few projects already and would like to start assembling the portfolios. We would also love a picture of your family to post on our classroom board. It’s a very helpful tool if a child is having a rough day being away from home. Thanks!

Illness
I know it's only the beginning of the year, but we've already had a few friends out sick. Please remember to call and let us know if your child is sick and won't be at school.

Word Wall
Since we are exploring the WHOLE alphabet this week,  your child may bring in something for sharing and tell us what letter is starts with, and then, as a group at circle time, we will work on learning what sound that letter makes. We have a basket in the classroom to keep things safe until we share them at closing circle. Your child is welcome to bring something each day they attend class.

We had so much fun last week! Here's what is coming up:
Butterfly Class News
Week of September 15-19

This Week
Pete the Cat is going to visit us this week and teach us about starting school, colors, numbers, and letting things slide. I love Pete the Cat, and the kids will, too! We will have lots of fun projects to do, and learn some new songs. Make sure to check out the Friendship Paintings hanging in the hallway by our classroom that the Thursday and Friday kids did together.

Portfolios and Family Pictures
Don't forget to bring in a white,
2-inch binder for your child. We want to assemble portfolios for each of the students this year, which will include alphabet and name practice, selected work, and art projects. It will be fun to fill these and create a keepsake for you to take home in June. Also, if you could bring in a picture of your family, we are going to post them on our classroom board. It’s a very helpful tool if a child is having a rough day being away from home. Thanks!

Word Wall
In the next 2-3 weeks, we will begin focusing on one specific letter of the alphabet each week. For now, your child may bring in something to share that is special to them. We have a basket in the classroom to keep things safe until we share them during circle time. Your child is welcome to bring something each day they attend class.
