This Week - Eric Carle
We are finishing March off with one more author focused week - Eric Carle. He is one of my favorite authors, and his artwork is so creative and engaging. The kids will get to make their own Eric Carle paper, using paint and a variety of tools to create different textures. Then we will create our own cooperative picture with the paper we make. If your child has any favorite Eric Carle stories, please feel free to bring them in for us to read this week!

Pancake Breakfast and Art Show

Paddy Hough Parade
This Tuesday, March 17, we will be marching  in the Paddy Hough Parade after school. We have participated in this parade for quite a few years. It is fun to walk in the parade, throw candy to spectators, and get some sunshine and fresh air. The parade begins at 12:30, and we are waiting to hear where we are in the parade line up. If we are near the beginning, we may release from school a little early. We will let you know. We will meet in front of Hough Elementary located at 1900 Daniels, just a few blocks south of our school. Parking can be a bit tricky, as the parade route is closed to traffic. You might want to carpool from Little Acorn. It usually takes about 45 minutes to walk the parade. Please feel free to bring strollers, wagons, or other wheeled transportation for the kids, if you would like. All parents and siblings are welcome!
Last Week and This Week - Mo Willems - AGAIN!
Last week the kids had so much fun reading Pigeon books that we spent the whole week having fun making pigeons, talking about the pigeon, and reading our favorite stories SEVERAL times! This week we will be focusing on Elephant and Piggie. They discover they are in a book, try to surprise each other, and learn about waiting. We will be doing some fun projects, as well as getting our art ready for the pancake breakfast and art show. We hope to see you all there!
Reading Groups
Our first week of meeting in our reading groups was so much fun. I hope you have enjoyed the books and worksheets that have come home. I'll be sending home some tips about reading with your child in the packets next week. Please let me know if at any time the books or work coming home seem to easy or hard for your child. Reading is a lifelong skill and should be fun. I don't ever want the kids to be discouraged or bored. Let's work together to help them succeed!
