End of Year Picnic
A huge thank you to ALL of our families for a wonderful year! We would like to celebrate with an all-school end-of-year picnic at Felida Park on Wednesday, June 10, from 9:30-12:30. There is a sign-up sheet outside the classroom to bring something to share. LAPSK will provide hot dogs. We would love to have the opportunity to visit and enjoy each other one last time this year. Teacher Sally and I are hoping you will all be able to join us!
Medications
If you have given us any medications, inhalers, or epi-pens to have in our first aid kit in class, please pick those up on your students last day in class. 
This Week - Playing with Friends
Monday and Tuesday, June 8th and 9th, are regular school days, 9-12. We will play, read our favorite stories, and clean our classroom. The kids will get to help us wash toys, pack things away, and move furniture on Tuesday so our carpet can be cleaned over the summer. Our goal for these two days is to enjoy each other and the relationships we have built this year.

Summer Camp
Registration is now open for Summer Camp! We have 3 different camps planned, and they all look like they will be a lot of fun! Camp will be running June 15-19: Art Explosion (limited space), July 13-17: Knights and Princesses, and July 20-24: Superhero Week. Camp is $95/child per week, $175/week for 2 kiddos. There is a $25 non-refundable registration fee that will be applied towards camp tuition.

BIKE HELMETS
The weather has changed for the better, and we are able to have the bikes out again on nice, sunny days. If your child would like to ride a bike when we go outside for our playtime, please have them bring a helmet. Thank you!

Butterfly Class News for June 1-5, 2015

Graduation This Thursday
This Thursday, June 4th, at 10:30am, we will celebrate the Butterfly Class of 2015 with a short program and reception. It will be held on the second floor of LAPSK in Jason Lee Hall. Can't wait to see you all there!
This Week - Moving On
We will be having a lot of fun this week playing, enjoying each other, and practicing for graduation. We will be reading House for Hermit Crab and talking about how it's time to move on from the Butterfly Class. We will be spending as much time outside as we can, so if you want to put sunscreen on your child before school, that would be great!
We Are Going To The Park
Friday, June 5, we are tentatively going to Shumway park with the Star Class. We would be leaving around 9:30 and returning to campus at 11:00.

Have fun and a restful 3 day weekend!
This Week - Space Week 2
We will be going to other planets this week. Your child picked a planet to do a short report on and bring back to share with the class. If the information didn't come home this week, check your child's cubby. We'll be reading about the different planets, galaxies, and space exploration this week and doing fun projects.
Graduation
Thursday, June 4 we will be celebrating our awesome Butterfly class. We will be having a short graduation ceremony and reception at 10:30am. We will have sign-up sheets out this week to help with decorations, clean-up, and reception goodies. This has been an amazing year. We can't wait to celebrate with all of you!

Seussical Jr. May 19 - No School
This Tuesday, May 19, we will be attending Seussical Jr. as a school. There will be no class that day. If you bought tickets for either the 9:30 or 11:45 showing, we will meet you there. If not, enjoy your day off, and we will see you later in the week.
This Week - Space
This is one of my favorite themes! We are looking upward and reaching for the stars this week as we learn about the earth, our moon, and the stars. We will be talking about gravity, making our own constellations, and painting earth pictures.
Family Fun Night
Our last Family Fun Night of the school year is this Thursday,May 21, from 5:30-7. It's our Science and Math night. We have a lot of fun activities planned. You won't want to miss it. Hope to see you all there!

Graduation
We will be celebrating our Butterfly class moving on to Kindergarten on Thursday, June 4th, at 10:30am. We will have a short program with a reception following. Watch for sign-up sheets and details to come!

Word Wall
The letter bags have been a huge hit! We won't be sending any more home this week, but will continue to share the ones that come back. Please make sure all bags are returned this week so we can pass them back to the Busy Bee class and say Thank You!

Seussical Jr. - Ticket Payment
We need to collect money for Seussical Jr. tickets this week. If you are signed up and have not paid for your tickets, please give Teacher Jaylene or Teacher Sally your money this week. Tickets are $6 each. Thank you!
This Week - Oceans
We are moving on to Oceans and Ocean Animals this week. We will be doing some fun art activities to decorate our classroom, as well as talking about what live on land and what lives in the ocean.
Butterflies
We said goodbye to our butterflies last week. We let them fly away when we went to the park on Friday. If you haven't already heard about it, talk to your kids and find out all about it!

Playground Clean-up
It's time to freshen up our playground and clean things up. Playground clean-up is this Saturday, May 16, from 9-11. This is also the last all-school opportunity to get volunteer hours in before the last day of school. There is a sign-up sheet in Teacher Katie's office so we can plan for how many people will be coming.

Word Wall
We made it to the end of the alphabet! This is our last week for sharing. We will continue with the alphabet bags this week, and then be done with sharing to make room for more time to read some favorite stories and work on end of the year projects. Looking forward to seeing what comes in this week. Thanks!

Approved snack donations are now a way to fulfill party of your 2-hour volunteer requirement. There is a list posted outside the classroom.

Seussical Jr. Sold Out!
New Showing Added

The prouction has been so popular that the 9:30am showing is sold out. We are 30 seats short, but they have added an 11:45 showing. If you are able/willing to attend the 11:45, please let either Teacher Jaylene, Teacher Sally, or Teacher Katie know ASAP. Thank you!
This Week - Finishing Spring
The kids have been having so much fun learning about Spring that we are going to have one more week of Spring learning. We will talk about the parts of a flower in more detail, do some fun flower projects, and continue to wait for our butterflies to emerge from their chrysalis. Feel free to come in and see them!
Progress Reports/Assessments
Parents - Teacher Jaylene is working hard to get all the assessing done to be able to send home progress reports the end of May. We are looking for a few parent volunteers to come in over the next two weeks to help Teacher Sally in the classroom while Teacher Jaylene is out with students. We need someone from approximately 9:00am - 10:45am. There will be a sign-up sheet outside the classroom. Thanks!
Park Visits
This Friday, May 8, we will be walking to Shumway park to play with our Busy Bee friends. Please have your child wear sunscreen that day. Thank you!

Art ala Carte Fundraiser
We are partnering with Art ala Carte on Saturday, May 9, from 9-1. You can take your kiddos, and they can get messy and experiement with a variety of art mediums and activities. Art ala Carte with donate 50% of sales from 9-1 to Little Acorn.

Seussical Jr.
Tuesday, May 19, 9:30am

The sign-up sheet for Seussical Jr. is outside the classroom.
I need to turn in our attendance count this week.
If you plan on going, please sign-up and give either Teacher Jaylene or
Teacher Sally the money for your tickets. Tickets are $6 each. 
This Week - Frogs and Worms
We will be learning about the life cycle of frogs and how worms help our earth this week. Painting with gummy worms, stories about frogs and worms, and frog puppets will be part of our week. Feel free to come in and see how big our caterpillars are getting. We are hoping they will be ready to move to our butterfly habitat very soon!
Park Visits
As the weather gets better and our school year winds down, we will be walking to the park across the street to play with friends from other classes. We will let you know ahead of time if we are going to be off-campus for our playtime.

Elevator Information
Just a friendly reminder - the elevator is only for families with strollers or people who need physical assistance. At no time should a child be in the elevator by themselves. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

We Love Our Butterfly Families!
